Within an hour of seeing the Pileated Woodpecker in the birch at Hasty Brook, four Bald Eagles soared above the campsite. The sky had gone from eye-watering blue to heavily overcast when they flew into view.
The exposure is bad, but you can still make out the adult and immature eagles.

Bald eagle!
Oh, that was your prior post to ID the bird.
Tee hee.
Just funnin'--you know I don't do bird IDs.
I just watch them (and listen to them, and feed them).
Turning green here! What luck you are having. Actually, we are glad you are sharing these great shots. But we are still green with envy.
How exciting for you!!
Lynne, check out the Hawk Ridge website. Today, Monday, Sept. 15 they had over 22,000 hawks counted. We're headed up this weekend. Great pics!!!
Oh, those are wonderful Lynne! :c)
You know Lynne, even though the eagles have become more common, it still takes my breath away to watch them flying and when I see them turn and catch that flash of white tail I always think to myself, "cool....a bald eagle." I guess it comes from all those years when I was younger and we never saw any--I just can't take them for granted!
BTW, those are great pictures!
I'm more than a little bit jealous!
Stunning photographs
Excellent images! Now I know the difference from below between juvie and adult... it's clear.
I think I've only seen adults and even then it's rare for me. Once was in Lawrence KS at a nesting site. It was in the paper and I thought, sounds like a good distraction. The other time was up in Alaska.
I always get excited seeing a Bald Eagle. They are just so regal. I love the way the wing tips spread in flight. Great shots!
You sure can tell the difference. So exciting!!!!
What's going on, Linne? You're a freakin' bird magnet!!!!!
Wow! You not only get a mature bald eagle, but a juvie, too! Great capture, Lynne.
Beautiful! They are such majestic birds and I am so glad they have made such a comeback in MN. It's always a thrill to spot them.
Despite the gray sky the images are lovely. I'm always amazed at the length of the wings!
It's RRRRRRaptorlicious!
I could never tire of seeing bald eagles. Ever.
