Great Gray Owl Video

Check out this amazing video of two Great Gray Owls in northern Minnesota. The video was taken by Sparky Stensaas yesterday evening in the Sax Zim Bog.
It's another great year for owls in northern Minnesota.
I am registered for my third trip to the 2010 Sax Zim Bog Festival of Birds. Ruthie is joining me again this year. There is still room for all of the field trips so if you're tempted, check out the festival website.

I'm thinking of a trip up there this winter. My brother and I used to fish that area when he lived near Gilbert. Neat video!

Neat video. Even neater—or more envy-inducing—is that 400mm AF lens with a 1.4 converter……

Oh, my!

Wow! What a great video. I hope the weather will moderate before the festival. And what fun if you have other blogger buddies there.

Oh Lynne, please have fun,
if I had the money, I would come,
but I will have to wait a year
or two to have this winter cheer.

I hope someday that perhaps you and I can go together! Next month Gus and I plan on going to Kentucky to see my newest grandbaby!

Are you familiar with this site:

http://scienceblogs.com/grrlscientist/

She has a Mystery Bird of the Day on her blog, which frequently is an unusual shot of a common bird. Like, the ass end of a warbler, or a waterfowl half-way into a dive. The comments are just terrific. Excellent birders give great hints about cues for identification, and beginning birders chime in also.

I think your shot of the screech owl in the wood-duck house would be a great contender. Not terribly hard to identify, but definitely an unusual shot.

Check her out!
