Happy New Year!

Happy New Year All! Things have been quite busy around our house. The kids have been off school all last week, and it seems I haven't had a minute to myself. But now I'm excited to share that I got a scanner for Christmas. I've wanted one for a long time. My Mom has always kept all of our family pictures in a big, tattered cardboard box (a long way from scrapbooking!). I've had it in my mind that I'd like to scan them and categorize them. I'm not sure where to go from there, but now I can give it a try! I'm all of 2 years old in the top picture. Can you say "Chubby"? Just look at those thighs!

"BYE!"

What a worthwhile project. My daughter and I scanned 800 old photos from my husband's family in 2005 and gave everyone a CD of them for Christmas last year. It was hard identifying people and dates at times, but everyone appreciated the history. My dad has 100s of slides which I would like to start scanning too.

My mom kept all the photos in a cardboard box in the china cabinet - not sure whatever happened to that box after my dad passed away. Scanning and then saving the pics on CD is a great idea and while it will take next to forever - it'll be a treasure when you're done.

Can't decide which pic is cuter!

Bye!

I have photos to scan but haven't had luck with my scanner. They're great, Lynne! That is a fantastic project for you and you are so cute! Keep showing them, please - the nostalgia is so much fun. Not chubby - huggie. And, it's great to hear from you again.

How cute!!! What a fun gift too. I am sure you will be a busy scanning girl for quite some time. That's a great way to have them all at your fingertips. Happy New Year Lynne!

What a great project! Love your pictures. You can tell so much about life from them. I think my favorite thing is that you are all bundled up while your mother (assumption!) is wearing short-sleeves. Is that because it's not really all that cold or because she's beenw working so hard getting everything packed? :)

bodysoulspirit-
I'm a bit overwhelmed rying to figure out how to categorize all of the pictures, but hopefully I come up with some thing and them I can just pick at the box. Thanks for stopping by!

Laura-
Find that box!

Mary-
Thanks for not pointing out my cankles!

Naturewoman-
It's an HP Photosmart C3150. The scanner works well, but the tough part for me is to now figure out the software!

Jayne-
Thanks- it is a fun gift, and the best thing is no one else is allowed to touch it!

Liza-
I noticed that too! That woman is actually my older sister (we are 15 years apart!) but I do know that I was a "croupy" child and my Mom rarely let me out without a hat on when there was even the slightest breeze!!

The last picture and the caption made me laugh out loud.
And a TWA bag, to boot. Off to fly the friendly skies, were you?
Oh, man...I'm still giggling about it.

Great scans! I shudder to think about all the pictures my mom has stored in acidy paper envelopes.
