My Mom

Just a quick note to let you all know what's going on here. On Monday my Mom had a bad fall and was found unconscious. She 's in the trauma/neuro intensive care unit with several brain bleeds that are being watched. Gratefully, her status has gone from grave to critical and now this morning to serious. If the results of today's CAT scan show no progression of the bleeding she will be considered stable enough to go out on the neurology floor. Her neurologist that I have known for 10 years and in whom I have tremendous trust has told me that if she's stable through tonight I should feel safe in going to Cape May tomorrow. My brothers agree. In fact they are adamant that I go. I'm torn. Monday morning before she fell, I spoke with my Mom and she was so excited for me that I was making this trip. She said she was proud that I was so brave to fly away to meet strangers and to learn more about the birds that I love. Please offer a prayer for my Mom.

Consider the prayers flowing to your mom from up North.

I am so sorry you are feeling you have to choose. It is a terrible spot to be in, I have been there.

Lynne, I remember your concern about your mom's potential for falling. I am glad she has at least stabilized and will be praying for her and your family. Sounds like you have a wonderfully supportive family. Hope you get away on the weekend.

Oh, Lynne. Go with your heart. If she's stable, you know what her wish would be... rely on your family and take care of yourself, too. Let us know how she is, please.

Hugs,
Mary

You know what Lynne? My Mom would say the exact same thing as your mom about going on the trip.
I'm glad your Mom's condition has improved a little bit again, but I can sure understand why you're torn about leaving her for the Cape May trip.
I'm praying for all of you.

Lynne I was stunned to hear about your mom and her terrible fall. The best thing are prayers for her doctor and for her to make a full recovery. By all means go on your trip, because God will be watching over her and taking care of her and also guiding the doctors hands. I believe in prayer and all the things God can do thru prayer. Special prayers are being sent for her and you and the rest of your family. Take care and know you are only a phone call away from her and the hospital.

May Mom continue to improve. Sending love and healing thoughts her way, and Baker kisses for you. I've been where you are with my dad (who had a bad fall/hematoma/surgery) and have great belief in the resilience of human beings. I hope you get to go to Cape May. The shore is lovely this time of year, and there are a lot of hugs awaiting you!

Sending prayers your way. Glad to read that your mom is doing better. Bring home some lovely photos to show her, okay? If you were my daughter I would want you to go, and not feel bad about it.

Lynne--add my prayers to the others here who have expressed their support for you.
If your mom & your family say go--it seems you can safely go.
I hope your mom continues to improve & is home soon.

Lynne,
So sorry to hear of your mom's fall. Fortunately we live in a time when travel can be almost instantaneous--crossing long distances with ease.
As a mother, I would feel terrible if my circumstances affected a special event in my girls' lives. Would regret, horribly, if they sacrificed to be with me instead. I would want them to go.
But, as the child of my mother...
We are both mothers and children--the decision must be right for YOU.
Prayers for all good things sent your way.
