WOW! Look at them all!! Be sure to scan them carefully for a Hoary! They've been reported at my feeder in Nova Scotia this week, too. Last year, they never stopped by, so I was pretty excited. ~karen
So far I haven't had any redpolls here on Roundtop this year. Two years ago, I think it was, I had 3 or 4 of them for a brief 10 minutes. i'm also jealous that they came to your sock feeder. For me, that thing was a waste of money. Neither goldfinches or house finches or anything interesting will go near it.
No redpolls at all here this winter. And I thought they headed further south when the winter was really bad. Also had given up on niger seed in my plastic finch feeder last year. Then tried those white socks this year. What a finch magnet. :)
Oh boy! I just love it when I go blog surfing, and find a really interesting one. Now, I have found a blog that I can read to help me identify the more uncommon birds in my area. Your wonderful pictures, and descriptions will be a big help.
But, sigh, with four cats, the birds around here will never come that close to the window.

Love their little "raspberry dots" on the head!
You got quite a crowd there, Lynne. They are pretty birds. I am a little envious - I only get about one at a time if any.

They haven't been hitting the feeders much here, although I know they're around!

Please send some my way! and...what streaky window? All I see are birds!
Great pictures. We had them here 3 winters ago and apparently they arrive on average once every 7 years to our area.
Greetings from Southern California :-)
I added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
God Bless You, ~Ron
...you lucky duck! I would love to some day look out and see a flock of Redpolls at our feeders! They are really going to town on those thistle socks!
Streaky windows!? If I could capture photos that clear through my windows . . of Redpolls yet! - I'd be flaunting those streaks.
I love this:
"my faithful driver Kato."
What a sweetheart.
Has he got a brother?
(Kidding. Kidding. Keith, at least, brakes for the squirrels as we're driving through the park if I point and scream ;-)
What a pile of finches.
