Hi Lynne, that's a great shot of a Redtail. Is it the same bird that patrols hwy 169 from 36th to Bass Lake Road? It, or maybe a different one, flew treetop level over my backyard during the GBBC. Hap in New Hope
Susan- Thanks. I've actually never gotten a photo of a hawk in flight before.
Betty- Thank you. Isn't she lovely?
Hap in New Hope- Yes!! I believe it IS the same bird. I found her on the roof of the old Pem Millwork building on Bass Lake Road and 169. Have you seen the pair in the trees in the SE corner of the 169/694 interchange?
Well, Lynne, I have to agree with Susan--a pretty darn good picture! I'm still unable to master the skill of photographing a bird in flight. The lighting in your photo is great--especially to see the beautiful color of that hawk's red tail against the blue sky.
I think it is a wonderful photo. I saw a red tail fly over the backyard a few days okay and couldn't even get him in my viewfinder so this is an amazing shot in my books. Congratulations.
I tried to comment twice on this but it wouldn't take it yesterday. I'm stubborn so I'm trying again. Great photo! You caught him in a beautiful position.
I think this is a wonderful shot. The wing position of the bird is great, light and exposure are perfect. And you could always crop a little to get rid of the lower left corner.

Mojoman- The Audacity of (New)Hope?!
I'm impressed with it! It's beautiful! Better than anything I get in flight.
Lynne,
That's a nice shot!
I'm always WMC (without my camera) whenever the perfect opportunity comes along.
Good job!
