I Got Out Today

I took the morning for myself today. It was gorgeous out, breezy but nice- warm enough to peel off my sweatshirt in the sun. I checked out a small park in Golden Valley near home. This tiny Ruby-crowned Kinglet was the first to announce herself. I must have taken 20 pictures to get this one.
I saw just a handful of Yellow-rumped Warblers, busy hunting along this pond edge. Crummy picture, but if you squint you can see his butter-butt. (maybe)
"HEY- you're in my spot!"
Another not-so-good photo of a Green Heron. Trying to focus through a tangle of branches, I wish you could tell how beautifully the sunlight was shining off his feathers.

"What do you mean- TOO MUCH EYE SHADOW?"
I finished my walk with this guy giving me the hairy eyeball!

I'm so glad you got out for a walk today, Lynne. Look at the beauty your found. Love that last guy. He's thinking, "phew! she doesn't have a rat terrier with her!" :)

Good for you, darlin'. You got out there and breathed.

And for the guy in your spot....looks like he had a "spot" of his own!

Looks like a good time was had by all. Amazing how many incredible things you can find in a short amount of time. To get a shot of a Kinglet is an accomplishment - well done!

A nice post for the first day of May.
I have been checking for our local Green Herons but they haven't arrived or are hidden somewhere.

I've been out of touch lately and didn't know about your sister. I'm so sorry.

I'll keep you all in my thoughts,

I'm so glad you took the morning for yourself. How nice of you to share it with us.

You get an extra morning off since that rude dude was in your place.

Hi Lynne,
I'm glad you got a morning for yourself and enjoyed the nice weather.
I have never seen a green heron (but it's on my list of "must-sees" for 2008).
Love that little woodchuck....do you suppose he lived in that tree all winter?

I am glad that you took some "me time" you really deserve it. It looks like you had some really great nature observations...I especially think the warbler is cute.

Several years back I had a green heron in the backyard that feasted on about 25-30 of my fish. He was beautiful but I'm glad he doesn't return every year.

Wow, those pics are great! believe me, I know how you feel about the branches; I have many clear pics of branches with a fuzzy bird-shaped thing in the background. Grrr.

And that's a nice shot of the green heron!

You know I can see the way light reflected off of that heron.Even the branches couldn't ruin it.The photo actually has an interesting effect. Almost like an impressionist painting.
