Last weekend we got nailed with the second of two back to back snowstorms. Schools and businesses closed. I worked though because hospitals of course never close.
When the clouds cleared and the sun warmed our roof the snow up there started to melt. This is the view from my window. Let me tell you, it felt like I was in winter's jail. Here we are only five days later, and the temperature is 45 degrees. Great sheets of ice and snow are sliding off the roof and crashing onto the patio. I drove downtown Minneapolis this morning to pick Art up for lunch. People downtown were soaking up the glorious weather, many walking about in shirtsleeves. I myself am doing the happy dance- winter is loosing it's tight grip. It will be a while yet, but spring IS coming to Minnesota!

Brrrr... just looking at those photos makes me cold. So glad it seems to be loosening it's grip! Come on spring!!!!
I guess you had ice! Glad you are getting warmer, we are too, We were very cold, here, but no snow in the last week.
"Winter's jail" is such a good description of how this time of year feels, we need to be paroled !
Looks like your area was really hit hard, I'll stop complaining about "lake effect" snow. More good signs of spring in SW Michigan, I saw a Turkey Vulture yesterday and 3 Sandhill Cranes today but the best was HEARING the Sandhills, I just love 'em !
Jayne- It was such a lovely day today, 45 degrees and still alot of snow on the ground, but fresh air and water in the streets.
Sandy- I really think winter is on it's way out.
Sara- Turkey vultures and sandhill cranes?? Send them on my way!!
Lynne, this a great news. Perhaps this will be the week when winter looses its grip up north. Your photos do resemble "winter's jail" very well. Come on, Daffodils!
This has been one crazy winter this year! Probably one of the craziest that I can rememeber! I love the ice shot!! The sun has been hot and is quickly melting the snow quickly!
Not to rub it in or anything, but we have temps in the high 60's today.
Neener, neener....
Those icicles! No wonder you felt like you were in jail. Glad it is getting warmer there Lynne! Hopefully it will get warmer here, too, today or tomorrow! Spring is coming!
Mary- Winter has had tight grip but I think it's slipping!
Mon@rch- The sun IS warmer!
Susan- YOU? Rub it in? :)
Pam- They think we'll reach 50 today! I'll set up a fan in the yard and blow it your way!
Your weather usually hits us a day or two after you are done with it. We have had enough of your snow! but we will welcome the 50 degree temperatures!
Ruth
Ruth- Sending it on your way!!
Seeing your yard reminds me of what an easy winter we've had here in CT.-still looking forward to spring though.
