I want to share a link to a site that has one of the coolest bird articles I've seen in ages. It's This Week at Hilton Pond.
It talks about a bird strike on a window and what they observed and learned about the bird. The pictures are just so amazing! Some of you may all ready subscribe to this weekly email link but if you don't, check it out. I always learn something there about birds and our natural world.

Thanks for the link - I check their site weekly, but hadn't seen this yet. Really cool photos. I wonder if the bird survived after all, even though they say it probably did.
Lynne - I'll be checking this great link. Thanks. I've tried to photograph dust prints that birds left on my window. Not much luck.
I've never photographed the strikes on our sunroom glass over the years, but I know they were mourning doves. We lost some, died on impact, and they received a proper burial. I hope others were only stunned and made it. For a day or so, I'd study the impressions but soon wiped them away - too sad to think about.
Thanks for the link, Lynne. It was very interesting!
Laura- I hope they're right about the dove surviving. Aren't those pix too cool?
Cathy- You've seen dust prints? I had never seen such a thing.
Mary- You've seen dust prints too? I have never seen or heard of such a thing. I don't recall having a bird strike my windows in the 15 years we've lived in this house. Lucky I guess.
Spooky!
I haven't seen any dust prints on our windows from our relatively infrequent strikes.
But when a bird bites the big one, we always leave the body out on the fence for scavengers to eat.
I have had the chance to meet the guy from Hilton Pond! Great guy and love all his hummingbird work he is doing! I was just telling someone the other day that he has the old school way of blogging! Only wish we had an opportunity to comment how awesome the site is!
Susan, now that I appreciate the raptors, I'll do the same. We buried the poor doves when Gina was young and thought it proper.
Very interesting Lynne. I have subscribed to their newsletter.

Susan- good idea about feeding the scavengers!
Mon@rch- Lucky you to have met the man behind Hilton Pond. I love that newsletter.
Ruth and Pam- It's a terrific newsletter.
