In Case You Wanted to Know...

Art took the day off work and we spent $1500 on tile for our gutted bathroom. He and his brother are hoping to get the bulk of the tiling done this weekend. We've been making do with two half baths and a make-shift shower in the basement. We're talking tiny fiberglass shower stall with a garden hose connected to the wash tubs!

I had a male red-bellied woodpecker chasing a female around the maple tree in the back yard today. I've never seen a male here before, it would be so neat if they stayed.

It's 24 DEGREES outside this afternoon!! I threw open a few windows and I'm trying to keep myself from running around in shirtsleeves. The air smells sweet and fresh and the sun is warmer than it's been in a looong time. Get out there and enjoy it- I hope it's nice where you are!

Dear Lynn,
If the sun would come out our 26 degrees would feel balmy!
I too am winter weary.
I have a pair of Red Bellies that are new to my gardens in the last couple years. Last year they had two little ones. I was so excited watching those little ones. The pair has stayed all winter. I hope they will nest again and be successful.
Hope you get to see little ones too.

Can't wait to see your new tiled bathroom! Congrats on the red bellied pair. Uh, I'd be flogged out in the snow if I lived there I'd be such a temp wimp. 24? Geeez....brrrrrrrr.

Hi Lynne,
Had a female Red-bellied W. in my
backyard for a couple of days last
October (near 48th & Flag). Would
be nice to know that she "hooked-
up" here in New Hope.

Lynne - I threw my windows open today, too! Yes! Yes! The sun is so much stronger. It dried the sidewalks quickly after I shoveled that light 3 inches of snow.

My favorite shower was the one in my brother's basement. You just stood in the open over a drain. It was so airy. I guess that's why people are spending gazillions on those fancy bathrooms that could house two families.

I have only had a female red-bellied woodpecker come to my feeder. There must be a male out there somewhere. Maybe the female feeds him. He's just waiting for his meal to be delivered. That'd be typical, ha.

The weather today had me finally thinking about spring!

I'll see your makeshift shower, and raise you...well, I won't go in to the details. We've been makeshift for quite a while around here!

It's supposed to be even warmer this weekend! Enjoy it!

Sherry- I'm sure hoping they'll stay. It would be nice to see young ones.

Jayne- 24 degress felt so warm after the cold temps we've had lately. I'll post pix when the bath is done- IF it's ever done!

Hap- I've had a female red-bellied off and on all winter- maybe she's the same one from your yard! I'm just over on 59th and Hillsboro!

Cathy- our downstais shower is about the size of a shoe-box! I'm really looking forward to the new bath. I was at Lowe's this afternoon and the sales guy showed me a shower that flowed like a waterfall and it pumped 80 gallons/minute! Unbelievable!!

Linda- I'll bet he's watching TV, clicking channels! HA!

Deb- I remember pictures of your shower- I'll shut up now! :)
You have a good weekend too!!

So 24 is balmy. It's a distant memory to me. Open those windows! There's a flu epidemic in NC - a serious one. I'm staying away from crowds and opening my windows!

You have very hardy birds.

May- 24 IS balmy when the highs have been below zero! The flu's running wild up here too. There have been emergency rooms closed due to the flu up here. Fresh air is GOOD for us.

Hi Lynne,
You're so lucky that Art & his bro are handy guys....imagine being at the mercy of plumbers & carpenters for getting your bathroom back? Good luck to those guys and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be back to normal soon.
I have my windows cracked today and laundry hanging on the line....loving the sunshine and balmy temps!

Lynne, I'm cracking up! When I lived in Maine I would have joined you, but now that I live in AZ I turn the heat on when it gets DOWN to 65! What a laugh! You make me feel like a whimp now!
